3 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Siding Contractor

Installing new siding is a major project and one that should not be taken lightly. Your siding not only affects the value and curb appeal of your home, but also its energy efficiency and its ability to stand up to the elements. One of the most important decisions you will have to make when it comes to a siding job is which company to hire so in today’s post, your trusted local siding and roof repair experts over at Pritchett Roofing Inc. shares the three most important questions that you need to ask before hiring a contractor to work on your siding.

1. How Many Years of Experience Do You Have?

Ideally, the company that you decide to work with should have at least five years of experience working with siding. While there is nothing wrong with hiring a fledgling company, it is always best to work with an experienced contractor to minimize any rookie mistakes.

2. Do You Have a Local Address?

If you hire somebody from out of state, it may be difficult to get a hold of them should any problems arise after the work is completed. For this reason, it is always best to hire local. A local siding contractor will also be more interested in building a long-term working relationship with you since you are from the same community.

3. Do You Have References?

As a general rule of thumb, you should ask for at least three references before signing on the dotted line. Most reputable contractors will provide you with references without even being asked. It is important that you do not skip this step because who better to tell you about their experience with a contractor than their past customers?
